For this project in West Dulwich, the objective was to transform a series of spaces into "stunning bathrooms" that exuded unique design and sophistication. In the cloakroom specifically, the challenge was to move away from traditional small-space design rules, which often dictate light colours, and instead embrace a dark, opulent aesthetic. The client sought a room that felt like a "luxury retreat," requiring a careful balance of deep tones and warm textures to create an immediate impact for guests.

The process

To prevent a small cloakroom from feeling restrictive, our designer utilised a "tonal warmth" strategy. By choosing deep brown tones and dark walls, we created a sense of "infinite depth" where the corners of the room recede. The process involved carefully selecting tiles with rich, warm undertones to act as a counterpoint to the darker fixtures, ensuring the space felt "brought to life" by light rather than absorbed by the shadows. This approach proves that with the right material curation, a small space can feel more prestigious and atmospheric than a standard neutral layout.

Opulent Colour Palette: Implemented a bold "rich brown" theme, using dark walls to establish a high-end, sophisticated atmosphere that defines the room's character.

Textural Illumination: Specified warm, rich tiles that provide a glowing contrast to the dark fixtures, ensuring the room feels welcoming and elegant.

Luxury Spatial Transformation: Successfully utilised the compact dimensions of the cloakroom to create a "unique design" statement, proving that luxury is not dependent on room size.

Contemporary Fixture Integration: Sourced dark, minimalist fixtures that blend into the walls, creating a seamless and ultra-modern aesthetic that feels curated and intentional.

Atmospheric Environment Design: Focused on the "aura" of the room, using the interplay of deep colours and warm surfaces to deliver a sense of "contemporary sophistication."
